Aqueduct Technologies has supported the Boston Symphony Orchestra and their goal to share music with the local community for many years. With cancellations to the Symphony’s upcoming season this year, Aqueduct has pledged to support the organization through 2022. BSO President and CEO Mark Volpe said the symphony canceled the entire season in 2020, and it expects to cancel live, in-person performances in 2021 as well. Since ticket sales make up about half of the organization’s $107 million budget, Aqueduct’s financial support is more critical now than ever.
“What defines Boston, in addition to our sports teams, are the not-for-profits,” Volpe said. “It’s not like that in every major city. Support from Aqueduct and other companies allows us to broaden our reach. They allow us to fulfill our mission. Philanthropy is vital to the ongoing viability of the arts. To Boston’s credit, people like Manak are rising to the occasion.”
Aqueduct’s IT expertise has also been helpful — the symphony is making more of its past performances available online to help maintain the connection with its audiences during the shutdown.
