Volunteering for Women and Girls in STEM Event | Aqueduct Technologies

Aqueduct Technologies employees, Grace Calfin, Corporate Recruiter, and Rachel VanOudenaren, Technology Enabler, recently used a Community Service Volunteer Day to mentor young women at the Women and Girls in STEM event at the Boston Museum of Science, in partnership with Women in Science and Engineering (WISE).

The Women and Girls in STEM event is a day full of hands-on activities, presentations, networking opportunities, and discussions to teach and inspire women of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in learning more about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. With this platform and forum, they are able to ask questions and make observations about the industry and gain an understanding of underrepresented career-paths available to them.

As young girls, Grace and Rachel both enjoyed the Boston Museum of Science and wanted to give back to this community. They believed the event was not only about teaching women and girls about the industry, but enabling them to realize they are smart, intuitive, and capable of learning.
